How DeHaan Painting Came To Be
DeHaan Painting was founded on a school teacher’s dream. Throughout college and during his teaching career with CMS, Matt DeHaan spent most of his free time helping friends with their painting needs. But he wanted to be able to reach out to the metro-Charlotte area and give his knowledge, skill, and services to many neighbors in need.
In May 2014, he officially launched DeHaan Painting. He began with a small crew, focusing on residential painting, kitchen cabinet painting, exterior painting; and, staining. As the company grew, the DeHaan Painting crew was able to do more commercial painting like with the Cabarrus Arena, Ballantyne Hotel & Resort, Autobell, and more. By 2017 and 2018, he was able to hire a Company Office Administrator and an On-site Project Manager with the continued goal to serve each and every customer with a quality experience.
In January of 2020, DeHaan Painting was entrusted by The Lynwood Foundation to paint the exterior of The Duke Mansion, a beautiful historic building, and one of the keys to Charlotte’s history.
Matt stands by the quality of the workmanship and materials DeHaan Painting uses. So much that all of our jobs have a 2 Year Workmanship Warranty– something almost unheard of in a painting company! DeHaan uses only top quality paint and stain that we know will be durable for your home and fit your needs. Matt and his crew are EPA-certified to safely handle lead-based paint to keep you and your family safe. Each painter is equipped to handle drywall repairs, staining, painting, popcorn ceiling removal, and so much more to make sure your project is done right.

As the owner of the company, Matt makes it all happen. He currently lives in Villa Heights with his wife, Lindsey, and their two daughters! On the weekends, Matt is an avid hiker and loves going off the beaten path.

Chenoa enjoys traveling, being outdoors, listening to music, and nature. Her three children are her entire world! She is a people person who enjoys meeting new people and learning new things!

As the Project Manager, Jason heads up the operations division in making sure the job gets done right. This means on time and within the budget. He joined DeHaan Painting at the beginning of 2017 and loves seeing the smile on homeowner’s faces when he does the final project walk-through with them.

“I can’t say enough about DeHaan Painting! From my initial email to the final clean-up, the whole DeHaan team went above and beyond. Our project consisted of painting our exterior brick, a common enough task, except I wanted to use a fairly new and unknown product – Romabio’s BioDomus I masonry paint.
I had spoken to a few other contractors before emailing DeHaan and all of them either seemed uninterested in using a new product, or didn’t listen to what I wanted and came back with quotes for limewashing (a product Romabio makes, but not what I wanted).
I emailed the particulars of our job to DeHaan and that same day heard back from Matt who had not yet worked with this product, but jumped in and actually did some initial research to have a knowledgeable conversation about what I wanted.
Matt’s responsiveness and willingness to learn were truly impressive.
He then came out to the house to further discuss the project, go the extra mile and hammer out even the smallest details (in my experience, a step that many contractors miss and thus tends to cause all sorts of issues further down the road).
He listened, took notes, and provided an itemized estimate. I was sold! We were still about six weeks out from our job, but over that time period Matt and Nia were easy to contact, asked and answered questions, worked with me on timing and made sure the whole process went smoothly.
When it was time to begin the project, Matt came out again to walk thru the details one more time. The crew worked hard, were clean and courteous and finished the whole house faster than I expected. I felt like they really cared about the end result – transforming our house and making it a pleasant experience!
